The very short and lovely video above gives some more info on solutions and what you can do to help. One of the simplest things is to plant something - a tree, a flower, a vegetable, ground cover - anything! As Greta says, everything you do counts, don't think it's too small to make a difference! And don't worry if you've never planted anything before or if you tried once and failed. Plants are pretty obvious about what they need. If you touch the soil about an inch below the surface and it's dry, then the plant needs water. If not, then it doesn't - simple! You can ask your gardening store helper which plants do well in sunny vs. shady areas. You can buy seeds for a few dollars and organic soil (for vegetables) for about $10, or you can buy plants that are already growing in pots and help them continue to grow bigger. It's easy and fun to watch Mother Nature work her magic!
If you live in a warm area, ask your local gardening shop or hardware store which plants do well in your climate and use the least amount of water. If you live in an apartment, even planting some herbs near a window or on an outside terrace helps. Why? Because plants remove carbon from the atmosphere, and that's exactly what we and our earth need - fresh oxygenated air! Here's a recent study that says planting billions of trees would make the difference in saving our planet, along with ending fossil fuel use.
